GFX prototype's first flight test

Scale Testing

Scale tow testing began back in May 2001. The computer models successfully predicted the foil performance and perfect balance was achieved first time. The model's flight stability could not be upset regardless of wave quarters or wind direction.

Testing was completed when US Navy carrier pilot Stu Allison commanded the final rough water series, which concluded with successful stable navigation through the scale equivalent of a confused fifteen foot (4.5 meters) sea, at a speed of more than 100 knots. A DVD short is available for viewing.
